3 Days Tanzania Safari Itinerary

Day 1 – Arusha to Central Serengeti

Your safari will start at 8 AM with a pick-up from your Arusha hotel. The 240-kilometer drive will take about 6 hours. In the native African tongue, the Serengeti is known as the “endless plains,” and it is simply breathtaking to see the grassland spread out to the horizon and eventually blend with the sky.

With an overall land area of 14,763 square kilometers, it puts our notions about the distance to shame. The majestic “Big 5″—elephant, rhinoceros, buffalo, lion, and leopard—are also found in the Serengeti. A very pleasant sighting would be one of Africa’s most beautiful animals, the impala, along with the “Big 5”.

Africa’s largest remaining population of plains game is supported by the Serengeti ecosystem. Due to its incredible population of lions and leopards, the legendary Serengeti National Park is the most well-known safari destination. One of the park’s richest wildlife habitats is the Serengeti’s central area or Seronera area. It features the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife that represents most of the Serengeti’s species.

Seronera, one must look out for the many lion pride that thrive in this region. You must also look out for the Serengeti’s “kopjes,” which are massive boulders of granite standing in a sea of grass. They provide ample shelter for a large variety of flora and fauna. A picnic lunch will be done during the daylong game drive itself. The eventful day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good night’s rest in your accommodations.

Day 2 – Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro

After breakfast, you will have a morning game drive in Serengeti National Park. Later depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area with picnic lunch. Ngorongoro Crater is the largest collapsed volcanic crater in the world and fourteen kilometers of isolated natural beauty. Ngorongoro Crater is surrounded by a ring of extinct volcanoes and the floor, dotted with watering holes, shelters some 30,000 animals. The eventful day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good night’s rest in your accommodation.

Day 3 – Ngorongoro Crater Tour (5 hours) to Arusha

On the last day of your safari, you will have an early start. After a quick breakfast, you’ll start your early morning descent into the crater floor at around 6:30 AM. The largest intact, inactive, and empty volcanic caldera in the world is the Ngorongoro Crater. It has a huge floor area of about 260 square kilometers and a depth of more than 2000 feet. You will see a lot of animal activity during the five-hour game drive on the crater floor. Keeping the camera at the ready is unquestionably advised. There are numerous African elephants, buffalo, black rhinoceroses, hippos, hyenas, cheetahs, and lions. After eating a picnic lunch at the lovely Hippo pool, you will start the ascent to the crater’s top exit. There is still a four-hour drive to get to Arusha at the end of your safari. By 6:00 PM, you will be dropped off at the lodge in Arusha.
